    Area of rectangle = length x width (product of the two adjacent sides)

    Length of wx = sqrt ((3 - 0) ^2 + (4 - 1) ^2) = sqrt (3^2 + 3^2) = sqrt (18) = 4.24

    Length of xy = sqrt ((-1 - 3) ^2 + (8 - 4) ^2) = sqrt ((-4) ^2 + 4^2) = sqrt (32) = 5.66

    Area = 4.24 x 5.66 = 24 square units.
