Mean (average) of the football team:

    (12.1+13.7+12.1+11.7+14.5) / 5 = 12.82

Mean (average) of the track team:

    (12.2+11.2+11.3+12.1+13.2) / 5 = 12

    Subtract: 12.82-12 = 0.82 s

So the difference of the means for the two groups is 0.82 seconds.
