How do you factor 6p²-17p-45?

    We use the product sum method here. Product: - 270 Sum: - 17. Next we find what 2 numbers multiplied together will give us - 270 and added together will give us - 17. The 2 numbers are - 27 and + 10. Next you write 6p²-27p-10p-45. Then you group both the numbers like this 3p (2p-9) - 5 (2p-9). Notice how for both they have (2p-9). Then you group the 3p and - 5 to give you an answer of (2p-9) (3p-5)
