How do I evaluate 2/5 of 3 1/2 + 4/5

    You need to multiply 2/5 and 3 1/2, to do this you need to convert the mixed fraction into an improper. so you would get 2/5 x 7/2. Now you can just multiply across to get 14/10, which you can also write as 1 2/5. The next part is adding 1 2/5 to 4/5, to do this you need to convert the first fraction into an improper fraction. So you would get 7/5 + 4/5, you can simply add the top numbers and leave the bottom numbers because they are the same. Therefore, the answer is 11/5 which you can write as 2 1/5
