    Since Direct Variation is y = kx, this is what you would do:

    4x = - 6y

    (4x) / - 6 = (-6y) / - 6

    (-4/6) x = y

    y = (-4/6) x

    The constant being multiplied to x is (-4/6) so k = (-4/6)
