A cup contains 6 ounces of milk. 2 ounces of chocolate syrup are added to the cup and thoroughly mixed. Then 2 ounces of that mixture are poured out. How many ounces of chocolate syrup are in the remaining mixture?

    6 + 2 = 8

    The amount of syrup per the whole mixture is 2/8, or 1/4

    Your remove 2, or 1/4 of the whole thing.

    So, remove 1/4 of the milk, and 1/4 of the syrup

    2 * (1/4) = 1/2

    2 - (1/2) = 1 (1/2)

    You have 1 and a half remaining.
