Scott needs to fill a 3-gallon pitcher with water, but it won't fit under the faucet. He fills a 1-quart container with water from the faucet and then pours the water into the pitcher. How many times will he need to fill the 1-quart container to fill the pitcher?

    12 times.

    4 quart=1 gallon

    3 (4) = 3 (1)

    12 quart=3 gallon
