If the function f is defined by f (x) = 3x + 4 then 2f (x) + 4 = ?

    2f (x) + 4 = 2 (3x + 4) + 4

    Use the property

    a (b+c) = ab + ac

    2 (3x+4) + 4 = 2 (3x) + 2 (4) + 4

    = 6x + 8 + 4

    = 6x + 12
