Area of the ground covered by leaves = area of circle of leaves - area covered by the tree.

= 3.14 x (24/2) ^2 - 3.14 x (2/2) ^2

= 3.14 x 12^2 - 3.14 x 1^2

= 3.14 x 144 - 3.14 x 1

= 452.16 - 3.14

= 449.02 square feet.
