If it's one fifth scale, take it times five to get the whole scale. 8 times five equals 40. The car is 40" long, 3' 4" long, or three and one third feet long.

means if 1 part it 1 unit long on scale, real part is 5 units

    so scale times 5=real

    8 inches in scale

    8 times 5=40

    40 inches real
