The sum of two numbers is 48. The larger number is 16 more than the smaller number. What are the numbers?

    Hello,

    Let's assume x the smaller number,

    x+16 the larger

    x + (x+16) = 48

    ==>2x+16=48

    ==>2x=32

    ==>x=16 is the smaller and 16+16=32 the larger.
