A correlation coefficient is a measure of the strength of dependence and correlation of a set of data. It shows how good is the fitted model to the data. It will have values ranging from - 1.0 - 1.0. Having a coefficient that is the lower or the upper limit will tell you that the model best fit the data and a good correlation. However, as it goes farther from the limits then the correlation is to be a bad one.
