    The price after both discounts is 0.5 (0.6) p = 0.3p

Therefore, the price after both discounts is 30% of the original price.

Say it was 100$. 40% off would make it 60$. Another 50% off would make it 30$. The sweaters price and the end was a total of 70% off as it starts at 100$ and goes down to 30$
