Will brought an extra tray of 42 cookies home from his job as a caterer. 18 of them are chocolate chip. Of the rest of the cookies, half are peanut butter, and the other half are oatmeal.

(42+18) / 2=p

2 * (42-18) = p

    If there are 42 cookies you need to take away the chocolate chip cookies first. The answer to that is 24. Then you divide 24 by 2 because there are two more types of cookies. This equals 12.
