Esme is thinking of two integers. One integer is 4 times the other, and their sum is 18 more than 3 times the smaller I integer. What is the smaller integer esme is thinking of?

    My solution is complicated but I'm pretty sure that the smaller number is 9 and the bigger one is 36. Let X=bigger no. Y=smaller no. Clues: X = 4Y X+Y = 18+3Y If you will substitute my answers, it will really satisfy the given clues.
