Jenny orders a meal at a restaurant that costs $21.62 before sales tax and tip. A sales tax of 9% was added. Jenny wants to leave a 17% tip on the amount after the sales tax was added. What will be the total cost of the meal, in dollars, after sales tax and tip?

    Meal cost $ 21.62

    plus 9% tax = $21.62 * 1.09 = $ 23.57

    meal & tax = $ 23.57 plus17% tip = $ 23.57 * 1.17 = $ 27.58

    Total cost $ 27.58
