    The required width is 9.4 ft.

    solution:

    let the width be x ft

    length=50.6 ft

    thus, according to the problem,

    6x - 50.6 = 5.8

    or,

    6x = 50.6 + 50.6

    or,

    6x = 56.4 / 6

    =9.4 ft
