A prime number is something that cannot be factored other than 1 and itself. 5 is a example of a prime number. Because the only factors of it is 5 and 1 (5*1). While a composite number is the opposite. A composite number is something that HAS factors other than 1 and itself. 9 would be an example because it not only has 1 and itself as factors (9*1), and also 3*3 is are factors.
