A ladder is placed 4 feet from the base of a building the ladder reach a height of 12 what is the length of the ladder? Round your answer to the nearest tenth

    To work this out, you use pythagoras theorem. a^2 + b^2 = c^2, so 4^2 + 12^2 = c^2, 16 + 144 = c^2, c^2 = 160, so c = √160 = 12.64
