Remember, you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

for all inequalities, when you multiply or divide both sides by a negaitve, flip the direction of the sign (so from > to < or ≤ to ≥)

    so

    -1.2z-8.2>-9.7

we want to isolate the variable

    add 8.2 to both sides

    -1.2z+8.2-8.2>8.2-9.7

    -1.2z+0>-1.5

    -1.2z>-1.5

divide both sides by - 1.2 and flip the sign

    z<1.25
