1.) Change the mixed numbers to a improper fraction.

    2 2/3 changes to 8/3

    2 3/5 changes to 13/5

2.) Find the Least Common Factor for the denominator.

    3: 3,6,9,12,15

    5: 5,10,15

15 will be your Least Common Factor.

    3.) Then you would have x/15 + x/15

4.) Multiply the numerator by the number that let you get to 15.

Example: The denominator was 3 and 3•5 is 15. The numerator is 8 so you would do 5•8 which is 40. The new fraction would be 40/15.

5.) Do the same with the other improper fraction.

Example: 5•3 is 15 so you would do 13•3 which is 39/15

    6.) Now you have 40/15+39/15

    7.) Add the numerators.

    Example: 40/15+39/15

    40+39=79. You get 79/15

8.) Now that you have an improper fraction you do 79 divided by 15.

    9.) 5 4/15 is what you get.

10.) Reduce. In this case you CAN NOT reduce so you are left with 5 4/15

    11.) The Answer is 5 4/15
