Neil had some olive oil. He used 1/5 liter to make a salad dressing. There was 1/2 liter of olive oil remaining in the bottle. What amount of olive oil did Neil have in the bottle before using some for the salad dressing and the steps to calculate it?

    First you have to put the fractions in the same denominator. 1/5 and 1/2, times the denominators together and get 10. To get 5 to 10 you have to times by 2 so you do the same to the top (2/10) and to get 2 to 10 you times by 5 (5/10). So to start he had 7/10 of olive oil.

    1/5 + 1/2. Make sure the under number are same. Become 2/10 + 5/10 = 7/10
