Two planes leave an airport at the same time. One travels due south at a speed of 480 miles per hour, and the other travels Due West at a speed of 360 miles per hour. How long until the distance between the two airplanes is 2400 miles?

    Set up a right angled triangle, the hypotenuse is 2400, one side is 480x, and the last side 360x 2400^2 = (360x) ^2 + (480x) ^25760000 = 129600x^2 + 230400x^2 5760000 = x^2 (129600 + 230400) x^2 = 5760000/360000
