Tom bought several clients is it a new car. He paid for a sales tax of 7.5% on the appliances and a tax of 6.5% on the car. Before these taxes, the appliances and car together cost $15,200. If he paid a total of $1015 in taxes, how much money did the car cost?

    X = car cost

    y = appliances cost

    x + y = 15200

    7.5% (y) + 6.5% (x) = 1015

    x=12500

    y = 2700

    So the car costs $12,500
