Mr Grant needs to buy 30 pieces of felt

He can either buy them in packs of 10 or individually

so one can buy a set with each pack having 10 pieces each

Mr Grant can buy the pieces in different ways

he can either buy only packs of 10

for this 10 pieces - comes in 1 pack

    then 30 pieces - 1/10 x 30 = 3 packs

so he can buy 3 packs

another way of buying is buying the 30 pieces of felt individually

so he can buy 30 single pieces of felt

    in 2 packs there are 2 x 10 = 20 pieces of felt

therefore another way is buying 2 packs of felts and 10 single pieces of felt

in 1 pack there are 10 pieces of felt so he can buy 1 pack and 20 single pieces of felt

so to summarise the different ways are as follows

he can buy 30 single pieces of felt

    he can buy 3 packs

buying 2 packs of felts and 10 single pieces of felt

buy 1 pack and 20 single pieces of felt
