Jamal is told that it costs $24 plus a certain amount per day to rent a car. He finds that a friend rented a car from this company for $144 total for 3 days. Which linear equation represents the company's charge in terms of the number of days and the fee?

    In order to find the answer, you need to plug in the information to the y=mx+b formula. We know that the $24, is B, because that is the flat charge that will not change. if we were looking at this on a grid, it would be where the line crosses the Y axis. To find m we would subtract the $24 from the $144, giving us the charge per day. 144-24 = 120 we then take 120 and divide it by 3 (the number of days the car was rented) giving us 40. We now know that charge per day, or rate is $40. You can use this information in your y=mx+b formula. m=40 and b=24, so, with this information, what would be the right answer?
