    Okay ... but it is not an inequality, it is just a system of equations

    y = x - 12 ... so sub in x - 12 for y in the other equation

    x + y = 8

    x + x - 12 = 8

    2x - 12 = 8

    2x = 8 + 12

    2x = 20

    x = 20/2

    x = 10

    y = x - 12

    y = 10 - 12

    y = - 2

    solution is (10,-2)

    Are they two different problems?

    if so then the first one is x = - 7 + 8

    the second one I'm not so sure what it is. sorry.
