The Parks Department wants to put a sidewalk diagonally across a square park. The perimeter of the park is 8 miles.

This is computed by dividing 8 miles by 4 sides of the park which give us the answer of 2 miles. The length of the side walk is 2.8 miles. This computed using Pythagorean Theorem, which states that the hypotenuse is solve by the square root of the square of both sides. Then will give us the answer of 2.8 miles.
