If you spend $35 in a jacket during a 60% off clearance sale, what is the original price of the jacket?

    60% off it's mean that price now is only 40%

    so make proportion:

    35$ - 40%

    x$ - 100%

    x=35*100/40=87.5$

    Answer: original price is 87.5$

    checking:

    87.5*0.4=35$
