I would assume 40 beads because

    500 - (5) 100+60-20=40

If Mia had 500 hundred beads and gave her 5 friends 100 each, she would have 0 beads because 100x5 is 500. Then, when her mom gave her 60, 0+60 = 60. When her sister stole 20 of her beads, it became 60-20=40 beads. So, Mia has 40 beads now.
