For the following system, if you isolated x in the first equation to use the Substitution Method, what expression would you substitute into the second equation?

-x + 2y = - 6

3x + y = 8

    Well your answers should look a little something like this: 2y+6=x because you switch the x over to the opposite sides as well as the - 6. Then that's when you plug this equation into x on the second problem next to your coefficient. 3 (2y+6) + y=8. Distribute, combine like terms, etc. And you should come up with the answer being: Y = - 10/7.
