Sam bought a jacket marked $85.00 and a sweater marked $60.00 if the store was having a 20% off sale on all items, how much did sam save?

    85/.8 = x

    106.25 = x The original price was $106.25 - 85. = $21.25 savings

    60 =.8x

    60/.8 = x

    $75. = x The original price was $75.00 - 60 = $15.00 savings

    Total savings $21.25 + 15.00 = $36.25
