    17x + 50 = 475

    17x = 425

    x = 425/17

    x = 25

    $25 per appliance

    50+unknown amount per applicnes

    50+?=475

    minus 50 both sides

    ?=425

    that is for 17 appliences

    asuming they uall cost the same

    425=17 appliences

    diide both sides by 17

    25=1 applience

    gets paid $25 per applience
