    Taking out the parentheses of expression

    (5x2 + 3x + 4) - (2x2 + 5x - 1)

    = 5x2 + 3x + 4 - 2x2 - 5x + 1

    Grouping together the like terms and arranging the expression:

    = 5x2 - 2x2 + 3x - 5x + 4 + 1

    Combining the like terms:

    = 3x2 - 2x + 5

    Therefore,

    A = 3
