Add the numerators, 4 and 7, and don't just the denominator, 8, since they're just the same.

    4/8 + 7/8 = 11/8

The answer is an improper fraction so you have to change it to a moxed number.

You divide the numerator, 11, to the denominator, 8

    11 / 8 = 1 3/8
