A rectangular cornfield yielded 2,200,000 ears or corn. The dimensions of the corn field are 800 yards by 550 yards. How many ears of corn per square yard did the corn field yield?

    The question is simply asking how much or how many ears per area of the field. To calculate we simply divide the total amount of ears to the area of the field. We do as follows:

    2,200,000 ears / (800x550) = 5 ears per square yard
