    If he is continuing paddling then, d = r. tHe has to paddle the same distance back to shore,

    4t1 = 2t2

    t2 = 2t1

    The taken to him is the twice he reaches to the dest. off the shoret1 + t2 = 1.5

    Putting the values we get

    t1 + 2t1 = 1.53t1 = 1.5

    t1 = 0.5t2 = 1

    d = 4*0.5

    = 2*1

    = 2
