to make it easier

minus 0.30

p-0.30=e

sub p-30 for e

2p+p-0.30=1.50

3p-0.30=1.50

add 0.30 to both sides

3p=1.80

divide both sides by 3

p=0.60

Change $1.50 to 150 cents

150 = 2 (x+30) + x

150 = 2x + 60 + x

150-60 = 2x + x

90 = 3x

90/3=x

x = 30

30+30 = 60
