    C=1.75f+3.5

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Mrs. Patton planned to place a

    fence around her vegetable garden. The fencing costs $1.75 per yard. She buys f yards of fencing.

    Hence cost of fencing = 1.75f

    Also she paid, $3.50 in tax which is fixed. Hence the total cost of the fencing will be

    1.75f+3.5

    Hence the equation to represent the situation will be

    C=1.75f+3.5

    If the total cost is $73.50

    73.50=1.75f+3.5

    1.75f=70

    Dividing both sides by 1.75

    f=40.

    Hence for 40 yards the cost of fencing was $73.50
