    To solve this, you must determin variables.

    Elliot=x

    Amelia=5x-13

    Then, you must do the sum of those two variables equals the number of cans. Therefore,

    5x-13+x=257

    6x-13=257

    6x=257 - (-13)

    6x=270

    x=270:6

    x=45
