How do you add positive and negative numbers when one is in Parentheses

    depends. however the parentheses only make it easier to read (for example it would be 9 + (-5) instead of 9+-5. if its 9 + (-5). it just becomes 9 - 5 since the - and the + cancel each other out. but if it was - 9 + 5. its ... well ... - 9 + 5.
