A high school athletic department bought 40 soccer uniforms at cost $3,000. After soccer season, they returned some of the uniforms but only received $40 per uniform. What was the difference between what they paid for each uniform and what they got for each return?

    to start, you divide 3000 by 40 to find out how much each uniform cost.

    3000 : 40 = 75

    each uniform cost $75

    then you subtract 40 (what they got back for each uniform) from 75.

    75 - 40 = 35

    the difference is $35 dollars.
