Janice"s mother gave her a $10 dollar bill to but 5 pounds each of bananas and apples at the grocery store. when she got there, she found that bananas were 80 centce per pounds and apples wre $1.40 per pound.

    5 pounds of bananas and apples

    5•80 = 4.00

    5•1.40=7.00

    7.00+4.00 = 11.00

    Janice's mother needs one dollar more since the total is $11.00.
