    4 (3+c) + c=c+4

    mutiply the bracket by 4

    (4) (3) = 12

    (4) (c) = 4c

    12+4c+c = c+4

    12+5c = c+4

    Move c to the other side

    Sign changes from + c to - c

    12+5c-c = c-c+4

    12+5c-c=4

    12+4c = 4

    Move + 12 other side

    Sign changes from + 12 to - 12

    12-12+4c = 4-12

    4c = - 8

    divide by 4 for both sides

    4c/4 = - 8/4

    c = - 2

    Answer: c = - 2
