A 7th grader student chooses a random sample of 50 out of 400 students. He finds that 7 students have traveled outside the United States. The student claims that over 50 of the 400 students have likely traveled outside the United States. Is the student correct? Explain.

    If we assume the student's sample is representative of the whole population, then yes, the student can be considered accurate.

    7 / 50 = 0.14

    400 * 0.14 = 56

    About 56 of the 400 students can be estimated to have traveled outside the US.
