    Subtract 1 from both sides

    3 - 1 = - 2x

    Simplify 3 - 1 to 2

    2 = - 2x

    Divide both sides by - 2

    -1 = x

    Switch sides

    x = - 1

    Answer: - 1

    Step-by-step explanation:

    First you get the - 2x by it self, so you minis 1 to 3

    So now you have

    2=-2x

    Now you divide them 2 divided by - 2

    So you get - 1
