Presidents George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson lived a total of 240 years. Adams lived, 23 years longer than Washington. Jefferson lived 16 years longer than Washington. How old was each president when he died.

    Washington was 67, Jefferson was 83, and Adams was 90.

    x + (x+23) + (x+16) = 240

    solve for x, and that is Washington's age. add 23 for Adam's and 16 for Jefferson's.
