    (3x + 4) 2 = 14

    (3x + 4) 2 means that 2 will multiply both 3x and 4

    2 * 3x = 6x 2 * 4 = 8

    6x + 8 = 14

    Move + 8 to the other side of the equation

    6x = 14 - 8 Note : Moving + 8 to the other side will change the sign in front of it, that is from + to -

    6x = 14 - 8

    6x = 6

    Divide both sides by 6 because of the 6 beside the x : 6x

    6x/6 = 6/6

    x = 1
