Why did prosperity depend on the sale of goods before the great depression

    because so much of the economy was based on selling, it was a consumerist market where everyone was buying things all the time. There were a bunch of products being released to the public to make house work easier, the radio was growing exponentially and so were movies. The trouble was in that with the new idea of credit being introduced, they were buying them with money they only had in theory.
