The number of hours, x, Ryan rides his bike and the total number of miles, y, he rides is a linear relationship. Ryan has already ridden 5 miles, and he can ride at a constant rate of 12 miles per hour. Write an equation relation x hours and y miles. Then predict how many minutes will pass for Ryan to have traveled a total of 60 miles

    First you set up the equations 5y=60y, then you divide 60y with 5y and get y=12 miles. 12x=60x, then you divide 60x with 12x and get x=5 hours which is x=300 minutes.
